Start with a key

  1. Create developer access. Open Developer settings and create an API key or MCP key for your integration.
  2. Choose its boundaries. Select scopes, local folders, connected apps, and an expiry. Access always follows the key’s grants and your account permissions.
  3. Keep your desktop available. Local search, files, clipboard, and opening resources require Ultrasearch running and signed in to the same account.
A key is a credential.

Copy it when created, keep it in a secret store, and send it only over HTTPS. Revoke it in Developer settings when it is no longer needed. API and MCP keys are separate credential types.

Build with explicit permissions. Review your developer access →
